A centrifugal oil filter manufacturer is developing a filter weighing system, which detects when the filter is carrying enough deposits to warrant maintenance/cleaning.

The loadcell formed a filter mounting collar allowing the return flow of cleaned oil through its centre. Long-term, high temperature operation was a pre-requisite; the loadcell meter was able to filter out the transients created by the high vibration equipment.
